Judith Nkwopara is the founder of Bridging the Gap Cymru, a sanctuary-led initiative supporting refugees and individuals seeking sanctuary to access and progress through higher education in Wales.
Drawing on her own experience of navigating higher education and professional placement pathways, Judith founded Bridging the Gap Cymru to address the information, navigation, and access barriers that can prevent individuals from reaching opportunities already available to them. Her master's research, which explored psychosocial support for asylum seekers and refugees in Wales, further strengthened her understanding of the wider barriers affecting access, wellbeing, and inclusion.
Her work brings together lived experience, academic insight, community understanding, and university partnerships to help make pathways into higher education and research more accessible and inclusive.
